Starting Over
Starting Over
Have you ever found yourself entering a season for which you had no previous template?
I have.
Over the past thirty years, I’ve rebuilt my life and work more than once.
Different countries.
Different languages.
Different communities.
Different roles.
One thing those transitions taught me is that starting over and starting from scratch are not the same thing.
At the time, it rarely feels that way.
When the environment changes, it’s easy to focus on what has been left behind.
The familiarity.
The context.
The confidence that comes from knowing how things work.
What takes longer to see is what remains.
Judgment.
Resilience.
Adaptability.
Character.
The ability to learn.
The ability to begin again.
Perhaps that’s why transitions can feel so disorienting.
Not because we are starting from nothing.
But because what has changed is often easier to see than what remains.
The question is not whether this season is new.
It is.
The question is what you are carrying into it.

If this is familiar, you can receive these reflections each week.
