The Surface
The Surface
You can feel it in certain conversations.
Something starts to come into view—
then shifts.
A question is asked,
then softened.
A concern is raised,
but doesn’t stay as it is.
It’s not dismissed.
Just adjusted.
Enough to keep things steady.
It holds.
But what’s actually there
never quite lands as it is.
Over time, that becomes the pattern.
Not what is said.
But how it’s shaped.
And once that settles,
what needs to be said
has to find another way in.
